My Christmas holiday.

Today in CIP we had to create a DLO about what I do in my Christmas holidays with my family.
I also explained what I have for our Christmas breakfast, Christmas lunch and our Christmas dinner.

Denny and Alice

In my novel study book there's two characters named Denny and Alice. They both go to the same school and they both like each other but there's one thing that they don't have in common. Its Denny likes Rugby but Alice doesn't because her brother died in a car crash while he was at a Rugby celebration. And she told herself that she would never date a Rugby player because of the accident her brother was in but also because she thinks that every Rugby  player wants to party all the time.

But then Denny tried to convince her to go to one of his games. And she came to one game and while Denny was playing she was watching him and realised that he's not like other Rugby players. And then they started dating.

Creating a new book cover.

Today in my Novel study I had to create my own book cover for my novel that my reading group is reading and this is my finished book cover.

Pounamu story

Today in Maori my teacher Mr Matthews told us a story about greenstone and i'm going to be telling this story and explaining what i've learnt while listening to this story.

In this story there was a man called Poutini and a woman called Waitaiki, Poutini saw Waitaiki and thought that he would kidnap her and that's what he decided to do. But then Poutini was getting chased by Waitaiki's husband and her husband had a thing called a tekateka. A tekateka is a spear that he threw in the air and then when it was in the air it would show what direction they were in, and that's where he went, but did not get closer to them.
But then Poutini realised that Waitaiki's husband was going to catch them so he put Waitaiki into the river and turned her into Greenstone.

Summer learning journey

Last Friday a lady called Emma who works in our Uru Manuka cluster came to our school to tell us about the Summer Learning Journey. The Summer learning journey is a activity where you blog once a day or even once a week to keep our knowledge up to date while were on holiday.

To get us students interested in doing this, Emma told us their were prizes to be won like Go pros,Speakers, Laser strike vouchers,head phones and many other cool prizes.
I probably wont do a blog post every day but I might do at least one blog post a week about what iv'e enjoyed in the week that i'm blogging about and what im looking forward to.

Dennys responsibility's.

Today in my novel study task I have to write about what responsibility's I have in my life because  one of the characters in my story has lots of responsibility's like helping his mum with bills,looking after his two twin seven year old sisters and he has a rugby team that he plays in.

In my life my responsibility's are to clean my room  do chores like dishes, I also have to help my mum with my twin brother and sister. who are 3 years old.
I also play in a sport team but Rugby League.

Cooking cockies.

Today in Tech we made chocolate chip cookies.
Our ingredients that we used were  Chocolate chips,Vanilla essences,Baking powder,Butter,condense milk,Flour and sugar.

When we got the cookies out of the ovens they looked golden on both sides and they were soft and I was so excited to taste them.

I enjoyed our cookies because they were soft and they were warm.I also liked the cookies because I could taste, melted chocolate chips in the cookie that I chose.

When I felt lonely.

A couple of days ago in my reading group we started reading a book called Playing to win we have a google slide with lots of task that we have to do and this task is going to be about a time when I felt like a fish/lonely.

When I started intermediate I felt lonely because I had no friends but then when I seen some kids that were registered in the same Rugby League club and I seen kids that were at my old school.

One other thing that made me feel welcome was that I had 2 sisters who already were at my school so I could go and see them if I was bored or lonely.

If I had to give Denny advice I would tell him to hang out with people that make him feel happy and comfortable.

Playing to win activity 2.

In my Novel study that my reading group just started reading there's a bully called Todd and in this blog i'm going to be sharing my ideas on why I think Todd's bullying Denny.

My first reason I think Todd bullies Denny is because he has noticed that Alice and Denny are becoming closer and because he's jealous and scared that they might become boyfriend and girlfriend.
And my second and last reason is because hes jealous that hes already making friends. 

Novel study activity.

In this blog im going to be doing a summary about what i've learnt about the characters,what's happened so far in this book and who i've met in these first 3 chapters.

When I first picked up this book I noticed that the characters are interested in sport especially 
rugby because on the cover of this book it shows two teenagers fighting over a oval shaped ball in Rugby 
uniforms.

While reading the first three chapters i've learnt that the main characters name is  Danny and he just got enrolled into a school called West Bridge High School,He lives with his Mum and his 2 sisters who he picks up everyday after school, and it's easy to notice that he wishes he didn't have to leave his old school, because he misses playing Rugby with his friend and he misses having friends.

But then he met a girl called Alice who he liked and who became one of his friends, but there's another boy called todd who is a bully and also likes Alice, and he gets jealous when Danny talks with Alice or when they hang out together, and on the first day that Danny arrived at school, Todd gave him a hard time because he parked in the spot that Todd likes to call his park.

There's a couple of other people that were in these first 3 chapters who get along with everyone and they are Clara and pete.
Pete talks with Danny sometimes and tells him about the first 15 rugby squad and about what's happening with all the sport stuff, And Clara is just one of Alice's friends.

By reading the first 3 chapters of this book I think that I will enjoy reading it because it talks about 2 sports that I like to play which are Rugby and Touch I also think that I will enjoy reading this book because the Characters sound cool. 

Digi Tech.

Last term tz and Bh started doing a hurumanu called Digital tech.
In Digital Tech we had to get into groups of three and the three in my group were Tai,Tamani and obviously myself we had to choose a topic on what we were going to learn about and what issue were going to share with our class.
Their were three issues to choose and my group choose ethical, my group choose ethical because we learnt that ethical is when someone does something like uses drugs in sport to win so basically doing something that make you have an advantage. 

One thing that went well for my group was finishing the planning because we got lots of good ideas on to the coogle site that we used. and the last thing that I think went well was how we evenly worked well and how we all shared different ideas with each other.

If I had the opportunity to do this again I would choose to create a game instead of a sphero track so that I could play it.

Pe Hurumanu.

Last term Bh and Tz started doing Pe but before we started doing anything we had to get into groups. In pe we started learning a sport that we were interested in teaching to our class and my group choose to do dodgeball.

My lesson on Dodgeball was successful because we were able to show/tell our class how to play and we did good warming our class up so that they were ready to play.And the last reason I think we were successful is because everyone had fun including me because I was allowed to join in.

My role in coaching Dodgeball was to warm up the class. This was important because it prevents injuries and prepares them for the game. I also helped my group out by explaining the rules that we were going to play by.

Something that I would do next time would be choosing a sport that I haven't played so I can learn something while I teach others.

One thing that I learnt was, most people in my class have played Dodgeball. The second thing was lots of people like to play different rules to how we played.

Cooking.

In cooking my class made burgers.
But before we made them we had to clean our hands and put on aprons and ,and after that we had to wipe down our cooking benches so that they were clean for us to put our food on.
To start off making our burgers we put our pattys that we made in a tray with parchment paper on it and then we turned the oven up to 180 to cook our pattys,after one side of the patty were cooked we turned it over.after that we grabbed all of our fillings that we wanted in our burger.
I grabbed beetroot lettuce chesse mayo and barbeque sauce. I put my barbeque sauce on the top of the bun and then put the mayo on the bottom of the bun and finally the pattys were cooked so we got them out and put everything in our buns and then they were all finished and ready for us to eat.

War Horse Novel studys.

Last term my reading group started doing a Novel called War Horse.We had to create a DLO that we do activitys in which are based on the story that were reading,We do these activitys to show what were learning and to show that we understand whats happening in the book.



I liked reading this novel becasue it was cool learning about what happened in the war.
One thing that I liked was how the horse that the story is based on is alive at the end of the war and how he ends up with his first owner that he lived with before he went to War.
But one thing that I didn't like reading was how Joeys friend Topthorn dies.

Today in period 2 we had to choose 1 activity to complete before interval and I decided to do a acrostic poem for my own name becasue it looked liked the easiest activity,and this is what I came up with.

Orana Park trip.

This week the yr7 & 8s went to Orana park for a school trip to learn about climate change, and how it effects the animals that live at Orana park.

My form class went to Orana Park on Monday but  I was absent so I went to Orana Park with Ts,Sh and Wh on Tuesday.

When I arrived at school I went to the learning commons where we had to meet so that we weren't late for our bus.

Finally we arrived at Orana Park,and it was time for morning tea,After we had finished eating we walked to another part of Orana Park where we put our bags and, where we got into to our groups with our Orana Park instructors,the groups were just split into the classes that went,and we were with a instructor named Richard. 

Richard told us all we had to do was behave ourself and stay behind him while we were walking to different animals.

My favourite animal would have to be the Gorillas because they were picking their nose and eating it and one of them were pooing into his hand and then eating it which I thought was funny,

I felt sorry for the Tiger that we seen because hes the only Tiger in the Zoo and all of his family passed but his twin brother recently died from cancer.

CIP Stationery Recycling

Last week in CIP I created a DLO about Recycling stationery. In the yr 7-8 block we started doing a thing where we collect stationery that doesn't work and send it to a company called TerraCycle, who give us $1 for each kg of stationery we give them.
To get our community to know about our project we will probably get students to get  their family and friends to bring their used stationery to our school.

I think well atleast get like 10kgs every term becasue we're at a High School and nearly every year group has a book so they can contribute to our project.
I think that we should get a stationaery basket/tray for lots of stationery for students that have miss placed their stationery.

Pe Hurumanu.

Today in our Pe Hurumanu we were doing our last little touches to our Pe document about Dodgeball.

We added what we were going to do for our drill and explained how were going to learn and improve on our skill that we want to teach and learn about.

After we had finished our document we went into the gym and did our warm up which was streches and when we were finished our streches we grabbed some balls and we practised throwing and catching becasue in Dodgeball you can get your opponent out by catching the ball that they threw at you.

Community Circle DLO.

Today in community circle Tai and I created a DLO about what we've been doing in Community Circle and what we've learnt, We also explained what the different colours represent and what it looks like to be in these different zones.

Why we like the All Blacks.

Yesterday in Cip we had to create a video about why we like the all blacks, the people in my group where Tai, Blake and Tamani. 
If you can't hear what where saying Tamani likes the All Blacks because they repersent our country, Blake said he likes the All Blacks because they all ways have a good atitude even if they win or lose. I said I like the All Blacks because they have good ball skills, and Tai said he likes the All Blacks because when they lose they always comeback and win their next game.
