Christchurch Rubbish

This week and last week in Social Studies we've been learning about rubbish.
we've learned how we should recycle our rubbish and what not to do I have some information that I learned today to share with yous.

W22hen our yellow recycling bin gets collected by the trucks, if the trucks sense more than %10 or more rubbish they don't collect the rubbish and if this continues to happen the bins get confiscated, then if the bins want to be given back they have to pay $97.65 to get the bin back and they have to promise that they'll put the right things in the right bins. They also get tracked somehow to see if they're sticking to the rules. Many yuck and dumb things end up in recycling bins, like guns, animals, plastic, glass, cardboard, and much other waste.

I think taking bins away from people who don't use them properly is a good way to make them learn from their mistakes.

English assignment (Little film)

For the last past weeks in English, we've been focusing on making a little film that connects to a Shakespeare story/film, that we studied and listened to in like term 1/2.

My group decided to make a video about treasure being found. My group decided to do a film with treasure because in the merchant of Venice there is always money involved and treasure was a way to share the same theme as the merchant Venice.

We mostly used two techniques which are close up and mid-shot to film our video.

It was a challenge trying to get all the footage in the time that was given but we did get it all done which is good.
I think we learned that when we take little clips and edit them all together that makes the film a lot more cooler than just a long boring video.

If we had the opportunity to make a film again I would choose to add more scenes to make the story more interesting, We would also try to make our film as similar as the merchant Venice as possible.

The films not yet edited properly but will be published soon.

Happy broadcast

This term in social studies we've been starting to use a site called Happy Broadcast, this site has lots of interesting facts and articles to tell us and show us what happens around the World, I'll be sharing a couple of interesting things I've found with you.

Did you know in the US there's a human composting funeral home, that offers an environmentally friendly procedure, that turns bodies into healthy soil, I can imagine your shooked and feel weird about this and that's exactly how I felt but when you think about it it's not too bad.

Here's a cool interesting fact for yous who like animals.
Did you know female giraffes, live longer when they're around other female giraffes, that help out with their children and help them stop harassment from male giraffes, I like this because this can relate to people in many ways.

Here's a cool thing that has started to happen all around the world even here in Christchurch.
Barbers have started to teach students, not only to cut hair but to also support and help their clients with their mental health. I think this is good because everyone has problems in their life and may struggle to share their emotions, but they might come out with help from barbers.

Plastic Article

Today ill be persuading you to make a change with the way you choose to leave your rubbish. This is something you should do as it will make a change for our future and will be able to enjoy many more little things like swimming in the ocean.

Plastic pollution was first noticed in the ocean by scientists carrying out plankton studies in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and oceans and beaches still receive most of the attention of those studying and working to abate plastic pollution. We have been littering for a long time and we need to make a change before it gets worse and we kill more innocent sea animals.

Have you ever heard of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch? This is a massive island full of rubbish that just floats in the middle of the ocean there’s so much rubbish out there that not even scientists know how much is out there.

By littering we harm the ocean and the animals that call the ocean home, when plastic goes into the ocean, many animals mistake plastic for food. This is a problem because when they consume the plastic, the more and more they eat, just builds up and the animals eventually die, as plastic takes hundreds of years to break down.

We need to stop littering because the sea animals/ocean produces 85% of the oxygen that we need to breathe, if we kill all the animals because we are littering that means the sea will die, then there will be no oxygen and all of us human will die.

Ways we can do to make a change are, Stop using plastic for packaging or any plastic that we use to make products, we should all start reusing things like bottle cutlery and many other things. And Shops should try to limit the plastic that they sell in packaging and toys or any other products that are made with plastic.

That’s all I have to say about this topic on rubbish, I hope I’ve made u think about changing the way you use plastic.

Plastic(Make a change)

This week in social studies we have been learning about litter all around the world and how it's going to affect us in the future if we don't make a change now.

One big thing that we learned about was the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, This is a massive island full of rubbish that just floats in the middle of the ocean. We watched a video during class and it showed a lot of ways we kill sea creatures, for example, when plastic goes into the ocean, many animals mistake plastic for food, which is a problem because when they consume the plastic, the more and more they eat just builds up and the animals eventually die, as plastic takes hundreds of years to break down.

We need to stop littering because the sea animals/ocean produces 85% of the oxygen that we inhale, if we kill all the animals because we are littering that means the sea will die, then there will be no oxygen and all of us human will die.

Cultural kete

For my cultural kete, I decided to make a necklace out of clay but then I decided it was getting difficult to get the right angles on the necklace so I decided to make a whare to represent my Maori culture. When I first started making the whare I was going to cut the walls up then glue them up but then I got a shoebox and cut it into a square and paint it black then I put Maori tape on it to make it look more like a marae and then laid down some hessian under the where. If I had more time I'd put more detail on and inside my whare.

Writing Assesment

“Wow look at that” I turned around everybody had disappeared, and I had no idea where. I started to hear someone whispering, it started to echo. I hesitated to follow the echo but my body strolled towards the noise. It was getting darker and darker, it was too late to turn back. My body started to shiver as goosebumps appeared on my skin, My heart started to beat while I worried if I was going to make it out, I started to talk to myself as my brain wondered if anything bad was going to happen. I started to overthink everything I did, and everything that was going around me.

As I continued to explore this strange place I noticed there was a door. I was curious about what was on the other side but had no courage to enter the door. Anything could be behind that door so I knew that it wasn't a smart idea to open it. I watched the door for some time and nothing had happened so I made a decision. I walked towards the door as quiet as an ant, I turned the handle as the door creaked very loudly. To my surprise there wasn't just one door on the other side there were so many doors, too many to even count.

The first door that caught my eye was spooky. It had steam rising from the cracks of the door, liquids dripping down the door. A disgusting smell evaporated in the air, but the scariest thing was, there was no handle. I bent over to look through the hole and a dark red large pupil appeared, the door kicked open. I ran as fast as I could to one of the closest doors that looked the safest. When I entered this door I locked It and slowly turned around, there was everything a teenage boy could dream of. There were gaming consoles, Junk food, Arcade games, a full gym, this room had it all and it was the size of a house. I never wanted to leave this room, but I know that thing outside is waiting for me and a lock won't hold it off for too long. I wandered around, this room was full of fun and surprises. I sat down and played with the games and ate everything I could fit in my stomach. I started to hear yelling, I think it was time for me to go so I grabbed this ball and sneakily opened the door as quietly as I could and ran. As I was looking back I ran right into something3. I looked up and it was all my friends and family.
